Deposit Insurance
Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
National Credit Union Administration

The FDIC and NCUA provide $100,000 per account holder deposit insurance for all federally chartered banks,
credit unions & savings banks. If you're concerned about your insurance coverage, periodically take some
time to review your account balances and the rules that apply. It's especially important to review your coverage
if there's been a big change in your life (such as a death in the family, a divorce, lump sum pension payout,
or if you deposit the proceeds from a home sale) or if you have accounts at two institutions that merge.
Those events could put you over the federal limit.

Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation

PBGC is a federal agency that insures and protects pension benefits in certain pension plans.
PBGC insures defined benefit plans, the type that promise to pay participants a specific monthly benefit
at retirement. PBGC does not insure retirement plans that do not promise specific benefit amounts ("defined
contribution pension plans"), such as profit sharing or 401(k) plans.

US Savings Bonds
For additional information, or to get current rate information on savings bonds,
call: 1-800-4US-BOND (1-800-487-2663).

You may already participate in a 401(k) or other similar thrift plan. It's wise to make use of these
plans, designed primarily for retirement. These plans, however, usually have some heavy-duty
restrictions or penalties if you pull your money out early. Savings Bonds can be used before retirement, if
necessary, helping to protect your retirement investments. Savings Bonds can also supplement your other
retirement savings. There are a couple of ways you can use Savings Bonds to save for your retirement.
One way is to start saving regularly today and defer paying taxes on the interest that your bonds earn.
After retirement, you can cash bonds to supplement your retirement income and report the tax-deferred interest as
income at that time (when you might be in a lower income tax bracket).

Many employers in the HRSA offer bonds through the Payroll Savings Plan. In addition you can purchase
bonds direct from the Bureau of Public Debt, through the Credit Union's and through the EasySaver Plan.
